BAI T-shirt Embroidery Hoops are made of a combination of plastic and metal. The oval in the middle is made of plastic, and the handles on both sides are made of metal. The frame was strong enough to hold your fabric and tear away stabilizer drum-tight without any adhesive spray, basting or pins.
